Bacteria, fungi, virus and parasites constitute important pathogenic agents which affect human health. For this reason, this book is dedicated to the study of these organisms and the diseases that they cause.

The work has been divided in three volumes and eight sections: in the first one, the general data of microbiology and medical parasitology are exposed; and then, particularities of bacteria and fungi are studied, as well as their diagnosis, prevention, control and treatment. The second volume covers entirely the study of viruses. The third one consists of three sections that are dedicated to parasites and vectors; also, it analyzes the objectives and importance of the Microbiology Laboratory and its infectious diseases.

The book is intended for students and specialists who will have a vital work for the understanding of these sciences. The authors, who com from the Cuban school of microbiology and tropical medicine, possess a wide trajectory and scientific experiences and a great international prestige in this field.
