The book approaches a highly topical and important subject in molecular genetics: the use of molecular markers as modern tools for the obtaining of new varieties of plants and their selection.

It is also very useful for research and specialized teaching.

With biotechnology's progress, there have been used in Cuba a series of advanced technologies as tools of productive systems; and the use of molecular markers, in fact, constitutes a powerful methodology that supports the programs for genetic improvement and seeds' selection.

The book is bibliographically upgraded, according to what appears in the mentioned literature, which is properly inserted in the text, and its writing eases the understanding of the subject.

It is characterized by the execution of a deep approach to all which is related to molecular markers, with its techniques and its base of choice, as well as by using productively genetic models and statistical-mathematical methods used for the interpretation of polymorphism, the identification of progenitors and the location of genes.
