1989 | Multiplow: implementation of minimum farming technologies
Main author: Heriberto Bouza
Summary: The multiplow is an implement that has a new type of device to work the soil. This device possesses a grill in V form for the horizontal cut of the soil, with a trapezoidal structure and a combination of positive and negative angles in its components that allows working it in floating position and generating a vibratory movement toward the less resistant area, able to break, decompress and dig over the layer of the worked soil. There have been produced more than 2 000 instruments, which have been mainly distributed in several cattle and varied cultivation companies. The introduction of this result will report the following benefits.

- 52% of expenses have been saved in maintenance, repair, amortization, salary and fuel; in relation to the technologies that use traditional implements, with a net saving of 24,00 pesos/hectare.

- It simplifies and reduces the technological process for the production of plows, since it reduces in 75% steel consumption and its industrial production cost, it ascends to 458 00 pesos, which means a net saving of 3 000 pesos/unit compared to A plow: 10 000 of disks produced in Cuba.

- By the substitution of imports, it can be considered that more than five million dollars have been saved in the country with the equipment already built.

- The multiplows' efficiency has been proven in more than 200 000 hetares in light, average and heavy soils, in cane, vianda and vegetable cultivations with a yield increment that fluctuate between 15 and 30%, which implies a saving of approximately 4,5 million pesos.
