Summary: The established system has the relation Rust-Sugar cane as a model; and it is integrated a model of high scientific-technical complexity, for the genetic characteristics of the host and fungus' morfophysiology. The system developed by means of vitroplants was very successful and allows corroborating varieties' type of reaction, infection percentage, incubation period and intensity of sporulation. It was suggested a precocious selection method of resistant varieties, at tray level, in seedlings obtained from tissue cultivation, it is guaranteed a sensitive reduction of the time required to determine new cane varieties’ resistance to Rust.
