Médico cirujano. Contribuyó al desarrollo de la cirugía experimental y del trasplante de órganos en Cuba. Se dedicó también a los estudios de Cibernética aplicada a la Medicina y gran parte de su esfuerzo lo consagró a la urgente tarea de reformar los hospitales universitarios y al propio Plan de estudios de la Facultad de Medicina.

Summary: It was obtained the information about the soil (classification, restrictive factors and agroproductive category); climate and use of the soil in 71 cattle companies of eight provinces. Also, there were carried out 105 experiments where many species were evaluated (45 000 field data). It was created a new regionalization methodology that enlarges the previous one in 7 and 13 gramineous and leguminous species respectively; 17 soils; 8 restrictive factors; season instead of year that leads to the impact of this result. Knowing the conditions that prevail in the places where pasture is used, and selecting suitable species for such places, may increase the useful life of the area, under the current conditions, in 25-50% (5 to 6 years), of 10-20% and also may increase current yields (0,5-1,0 tm/ha/year); this, in monetary terms, only applied to 20% of the areas of new sowing (40 000 ha) will represent a gain higher than a million pesos/year, since the useful life rises to 400 000 pesos/year (10 pesos/ha/year) and the yields increase to 720 000 pesos/year (18 pesos/ha/year).PERFORMERS: Inst.of Pastures and Forages and Inst. of Cybernetics, Mathematics and Physics,
