1996 | Calculation of the physico- microscopic properties in piezoelectric materials
Main author: Luis Fuentes Cobas
Summary: It is presented a system of calculation procedures and programs that make possible to forecast physical properties in polycrystals with texture. The considered properties are those that have quantitative representation associated to range r <4 tensors. There were made the calculation programs, by means of which properties associated to second-range tensors can be predicted, such as electric and magnetic susceptibilities, electric conductivity and thermal dilatation; and which allow piezoelectricity calculation (third-range tensor) and elasticity module calculation (fourth-range tensor). It is applied the treatment of Bunge’s spherical functions, and it is carried out an extension of the asintotic average method to the case of piezoelectric medium. There are described the general expressions to calculate the characteristics of a laminated piezocompound in which the laminas are in parallel connection. That is to say, having into account the constituents' properties through the asintotic average method, it is possible calculating the effective coefficients of the compound and with these analyzing some physical properties, as the coefficient of electromechanical joining, acoustic impedance, propagation speed, etc., for a two-phase compound. Lastly, the effect of wave’s propagation in piezoelectric materials is carried out through analytic and numeric methods that allow describing the way in which the piezoelectric vibrates. These studies were carried out in piezoelectric cylinders looking for axially symmetrical vibrations (numeric), and in human bones, which behaves as a medium with piezoelectric characteristics (analftic case), looking for torsional vibrations.
