Summary: The book offers a deep study on the history of Latin American and Cuban psychology, from the indigenous stage to the present day, supported in a wide and rigorous investigation that allows the author to offer a periodization, valuations and completely original approach on the topic. The author values and criticizes other studies and historical approaches on the subject, and proposes new points of view in which she defends the identity and universality of Latin American psychological thought. Likewise, she widely discusses the influence of Cuban Revolution on the development of psychology in Cuba and in the rest of the region. The book was published for the first time in Puerto Rico and it is in publication process in Cuba, where there is a briefer version that has been used as educational literature in university centers for several years. The results of this study have had a wide welcome in the Latin American scientific community. It obtained the prize of her Faculty in the category "Best book published in1995."
