Summary: The result in question constitutes a diagnosis of the internal migration to the capital, and it is aimed to know its main characteristics, as well as migrants' reasons and attributes, and the circumstances and consequences of their transfer. There is also incorporated the analysis of the historical series of countinous statistics on migration, and it is approached - for the first time in Cuba - the characteristics of immigration that is going to occur (potential migration), starting from the analysis of the declarations of individuals who reside in the rest of the country, who have planned to immigrate to the capital. The sample’s size in the capital embraced more than 4000 houses, and it was gathered information of great diversity for more than 10000 individuals from 15 to 64 years old that live in the capital. On the other hand, the use of estimates calculated starting from the country's official statistics, allowed carrying out the expansion of the sample, in such a way that its statistical results repeat the magnitude of the population that reside in the capital (2200000 inhabitants). This makes of the ENMI an element more of the System of Official Surveys of the country, and the sampling framework that it forced to create has substituted even those previously used by ONE.
