"Salinity, a new concept", is the first work from this discipline in the country, and it is a result from the collaboration among the Institute for Soils from the Ministry of Agriculture (Cuba), with the University of Colima and the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico)

This work, which points out the experience from Cuba and other latitudes, had into account the existent relationships among all the aspects, which includes the reciprocal effect man - nature, in which actions are conditioned and transformed, and that is the reason why the society has a leading role. In this, there are joined criteria on the appearance, damages, and fights against salinity, giving new concepts, indexes and ideas to face the challenge imposed by the fight against desertification by the progress of salinity, being a novel didactic and consultation material.

The analysis presents salinity as a potential danger in all kinds of soils for its presence in these, depending on the balance of all the elements that influence the operation. It is evidenced, the need of a differentiated operation according to the existent characteristics in the agriculture ecosystem; this has so many component elements that it creates complexities that cannot be considered in a unilateral way. For this reason, the solution to the salinity problem will be multidisciplinary.

The book is in a clear and simple language that makes it a feasible material to be used by producers, teachers and specialists.
