Summary:

The recycling technologies, developed in this project to small and medium scale, can be summarized in the following aspects:

  • New system to process and use organic residuals for pig feeding through the use of thermo-reactors of Cuban production and the elaboration of diets from processed wastes and their management for each category of porcine flock.
  • Recycling system of the residuals from porcine farms through energy, food and fertilizers production, which include three fundamental subsystems:
  • Establishment of different types of biodigesters for the treatment of porcine residuals and obtaining biogas and fertilizers.
  • Use of aquatic plants as decontaminators of liquid residues in order to obtain food for animal nutrition (fish, birds and pigs).
  • Use of earthworm farming as a means of decontamination of solid residues, obtaining biofertilizers (humus) and biomass (worms).

The main advantages from the developed recycling system are:

  • Recovery and use of residuals and by-products that potentially constitute a food source for pigs.
  • The alternative technologies of treatment and use of residues are justified on the base of economic measuring indicators which are internationally used. In turn, the economic environmental impact that results from the applied technologies, presents a high benefit for the environment and society.
  • For the flexibility, adaptability, and the economic and environmental benefit from the offered technologies, these can be applied without restrictions in any region or country.
