Fungi pure cultures collection from Alejandro de Humboldt Institute of Agriculture Fundamental Research (INIFAT) was founded in 1975. It stores 4 500 strains in liquid petrolatum and water .This collection has contributed in different econoimic branches of the country such as economy itself, biotechnology, national deffense, medicine education and environment, where all fungi groups existing in nature are represented . Among the stored strains, there are new specimens never described before, 45 genres and 341 species.

Additionally, seldom common fungi are preserved which cultures are uniques, having a preservation reflect on the world collections, where types and isotypesof these organisms are being stored and those never cultured before.

This work presents the most relevant results including two books elaboration, vaccine production as a part of the country´s allergic preventing plan; oxidase glucose, gibeleric and jasmonic acid and edible fungi obtention, in collabnoration with other national institutions and this collection´s pure culture list recognized as the greatest in Cuba and the second greates in the Latin America.
