This work constitutes an outstanding and novel contribution in the study and characterization of the relationships of biological interaction between Hepatic Fasciola and its hosts. The report regarding a Pseudosuccinea columella population resistant to Hepatic Fasciola infection constitutes a valuable original contribution to this branch of biology in general. Also, the possibilities of application, created by the use and extension of this discovery to know and control this and other systems of host-parasite interaction are encouraging. Indeed, the identification and manipulation of the genes responsible for this resistance could mean in the future a way to implement parasite control strategies.
There are included in this work, the opinions of international acknowledged specialists on the subject who express very enthusiastic criteria about the author’s presentations in international events and his publications in prestigious international magazines that are a part of this achievement.
