Housing shortage is unquestionably one of society’s main needs, and that is why the problems related with its solution are prioritized in our country. It is summarized in the result proposed to prize, the 20 years of investigation-development dedicated by the author to the subject of economy, sustainability and quality of life, in the design and construction of social housing in Cuba, which has been nationally and internationally recognized.

The experiences introduced have contributed, in the different stages of their development, to the use of renewable sources of energy, with the design of bioclimatic housing, to the applications in the communities of Plan Turquino housing and to the solutions in order to guarantee the integral approaches with which it is demonstrated that quality and sustainability are decisive and not optional factors, to save the material and energy resources necessary to solve housing shortage.

The results of these studies, contained and endorsed in a doctoral thesis, in which defense it was granted to her the degree of Dr. in Technical Sciences, have also been disclosed in the book entitled "Economy and Quality in housing. A Cuban approach", in a relation of 40 titles, published in memoirs of national and international events, and in many magazines. The scientific-technical novelties introduced by the author in the methodological and conceptual procedures of housing design represent important contributions in the sphere of educational formation, normalization and project execution practice. These works have received many prizes and recognitions in Cuba and abroad, due to the results obtained.
