From the very detection of thrips palmi in Cuba, a reserching program was lounched with the view to obtain a management strategy for the newly inserted plague , what was undertaken in a transdisciplinary manner and with the participation of several scientific institutions headed by: Ministry of Science Technology and Environment (CITMA).

Obtained results have allowed reducing considerably affectations, while constituting the responses for the elaboration of Joint Instructions : 1,2,3,4 y 5 of the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI) and  Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) to established the control measures for thrips palmi in the country. Likewise, it constitutes an important reference to other countries in the region.

There was a scientific rigor in the research, in order to improve thrips diagnose system, learn its the bilogy and ecology, its direct harmfulness or its capacity to transmit viral deseases or physiological disorder and develop new fighting methods against the plague. These works has allowed updating thrips and Frankliniella genres systematics in Cuba, the biology , temporal and space changes of the plague population, its natural enemies and the methods for their preservation , the damages and losses in different economically important crops, plague counting methods and indicators for signaling in production areas, different control alternatives with new insecticides or biological producsts.

Finally, strategies and tactics were validated for the management of principal affected crops, while a work team provided advice in the most affected areas. It presents introduction supports from the National Center of Vegetable Health of the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI), the National Directory of Vegetable Health in Havana Province and the National Directory of Various Crops (MINAGRI). It has 2 publications in the journals: Manejo Integrado de plagas( Plague Integrated Management) (MIP) de CATIE, Costa Rica y 6 en Rev Fitosanidad (Phytosanity Journal).
