Summary:

The topic of research of the work is very outstanding and up to date inside contemporary physics. This research is on the calculation of energy spectra, density of excited states and optic and transport properties of semiconductor transport points and atom traps.

This topic is between the frontier subjects of Solid State Physics and Atomic Physics. The main characteristic of the quantum points studied by the authors lies in the number of particles, which may vary between 4 and 400. It makes physical properties of interest an enormously difficult task. The authors overtake this, establishing a calculation analogy between quantum points and atomic nuclei. There were adopted different algorithms in the work methodology, such as Hartree - Fock, RPA, etc. In addition, it should be highlighted that several algorithms such as Pade, Lanczon and Variational Monte Carlos approximations were used, which shows the scientific level of this project.

The scientific results presented, embrace the study of basic state of bi-dimensional bosons, the problem of excitonic complex in quantum disks, the inclusion of magnetic fields, among others. The calculations are directly linked to experimental results inside Solid State Physics, which makes this work very meritorious. The results have been presented in a collection of 10 publications in specialized magazines with arbitration. All the publications are in prestigious magazines in physics, this way reflecting the quantity and quality of the works carried out in only two and a half years.
