The result is presented in the form of a book, published in 2002 by the Scientific -Technical Publishing House. It represents the ending of a long and pressing research process carried out during more than five years, in Cuban and Spanish archives. There is no other study of Albear Aqueduct with the reach and integration presented in this work.
The work is based on an almost exhaustive use of the bibliography published on this work, as well as on numerous unpublished sources, conserved in the Overseas Section of the National Historical Archive of Spain. It is an achieved example of how the interrelations of technical development processes with social, political and economic variables of the corresponding environment should be revealed, which is carried out from the historical analysis of a technological execution of great magnitude and social impact. It is a rigorously finished example of social history of science and technology. It is edited with the due academic level, but achieving an appropriate accessibility to be read by a general-knowledge average reader.
The main contents of this result have been presented in many national and foreign scientific events, as it is demonstrated by the references that appear in the presented file. These contents are important landmarks in the historiography of the technological development in Cuba, which so far has just a few dedicated works. These are useful for their integration in the study of the historical processes in the country, and for the formation of the historical memory in the wide strata of society, by means of their direct reading and for their feasible use in pre and post-graduate teaching.
