Summary:

A research model can be identified in this work -with its corresponding theoretical categorical system- to approach the changes that capitalist plantation system udergoes in Cuba from 1926 to 1937, under the influence of state regulation forms.

The author presents results that show why this state regulation experience started so early in Cuba, and why significant changes take place in the economic - political - social nature of the state regulation in a relatively brief historical period. The sources or active and passive bibliography used by the author, support these results rigorously. The author expresses a very special command in the correlation between the investigation method and the exhibition method of the reached scientific results, which also makes possible that the monograph may become a text of required and interesting consultation by professors and students. It can be considered a scientific contribution, not only to the historical clarification of the different role carried out by Cuban state regulation of its most important industry (in a monoproducer economy) and therefore decisive to the rest of the national economy, of imperialist dominance mechanisms and of those signs of defense search of national classist interests; but also because it can constitute a stimulus for the theoretical development of the political economy of capitalism in the so-called peripheral countries.

Cuban historiography needed a book like this, which could deepen in the economic, social and political processes of these years; and this is outstandingly achieved by the author. This monograph was concluded in May of 2002, and its publication has just started to be conducted, even when important results from this research have already appeared in national and international articles, conferences and presentations.
