It is the result of ten years of research. It is the first text that values in its full and diverse extent, with systemic approach, scientific rigor and coherence, the work of the outstanding thinker Medardo Vitier.

With a solid methodological and categorial work, the author exposes the foundations of his study starting from a narrow relation among culture, philosophy and history, all which constitutes a contribution to knowledge deepening of Cuban thought. Its focus on the weight of tradition in the national identity represents a valuable element in the current struggle of ideas.

The study is supported by institutional references, including one from the University of Pisa. It should be stand out that it has a reference from such a demanding essayist for this particular case as it is Cintio Vitier. Also, it was finalist of the Prize "Casa de las Americas" and it got a mention of the Prize "Alejo Carpentier".
