

The monograph "The education of values in the university context" is one of the main results of the research "Conception of the teaching-learning process and educational organization for the formation of values in university students" that was carried out during the period from 1996 to 2000, as a part of the Branch Program of Pedagogic Researches of Higher Education for a group of professor-researchers from the CEPES of the University of Havana (UH) and collaborating professors from different CES of the country.
The monograph's essential objective is "To offer university professors a theoretical-methodological alternative for the education of values in Higher Education sustained in the historical-cultural perspective of human development". Its content is centered in the difficult definition of values and gives a very precise and well argued position taking. It is made a clear analysis of philosophical, sociological and psychological foundations of values. There is a work on the psico-pedagogic diagnosis of values, the education of actual values, as well as an educational strategy to contribute to education in this environment. It is original and creative in the treatment of the problem. It is assessed a high scientific level and rigor along the whole research.
These are the results of several years of application in some Cuban universities, for this reason, usefulness and repercussion are revealed to the rest of university centers of the country, and in these moments of struggle of ideas, it has a singular importance.
