Summary:

In this work, it was carried out for the first time in Cuba the assesment of natural zeolite deposits with commercial exploitation potential with a view to its certification, and there were demonstrated advantages in agricultural production and in particular, in animal health and diet, in the conservation of seeds, in the increase of soils' fertility and in the decrease of environmental contamination.

It was demonstrated its effectiveness in avian nutrition, especially in fattened chickens and egg-laying hens, being evidenced its advantages in the conversion, the quality of eggs and raw material saving. The results of this work make important contributions in the nutrition of bovines and pigs. It is very important for bovines the decrease of voluntary consumption without affecting behavior. In pigs, it was demonstrated the enrichment of the honey value through the use of natural zeolites in the clarification, in connection with the traditional ones. There were studied the applications of natural zeolites in environmental preservation and animals’ well-being, by means of its use as bed or in mixtures on the soil, in nests or for the collection of excrement in birds' sections. The composts with zeolite in shade sections contributed to dairies’ environmental improvement without altering the quality of milk. These uses allowed obtaining fertilizers of quality.

The results have been endorsed by national and foreign companies and institutions (Spain, Mexico and Ecuador). The results of the work have been rewarded, presented in scientific events and published in 39 articles of scientific magazines (1 of these in a prestigious magazine, 29 in the Cuban Magazine of Agricultural Science, 8 in the Magazine of Animal Health and 1 in the Cuban Magazine of Poultry Science) and in 5 arbitrated scientific monographs.
