The obtained results contribute to know deeply the physical nature of causal processes of meteorological drought in Cuba and their adjacent geographical region; to establish scientific bases for the diagnosis and early alert of drought and the correct evaluation of their impact; to determine premises for the development of techniques to predict these events; to study each case in order to evaluate the influence of meteorological conditions of medium and local scale; and to establish scientific bases to handle drought from the agrometeorological and hydrological perspectives, as well as those of other environmental sectors.

The researches allowed the Center of Climate of theInstitute of Meteorology , developing a New Version of the National System of Surveillance, Early Alert and Drought Forecast; as well as the surveillance systems in the meteorology offices of the affected provinces; and contributing to the scientific bases of Plan of National Action of Fight against Desertification and Drought; and the Plans of Confrontation to Catastrophes; with the possibility of applying these results to other countries of the region; and there are also included 10 publications, 6 in national magazines and 4 in foreign magazines.
