The book approaches a basic and daily doctor's act : to diagnose a patient's disease (clinical method), origin, history and method principle; but, mainly, the problems that the emergence of scientific-technical revolution, including Cuba, is being universally confronting for 50 years, problems such as: damaged and troubled doctor-patient relationship, impersonal medical attention, not listening to the sick person, to carry out a superficial examination, not reasoning and leaning on an excessive and irrational use of complementary analyses believing falsely that these will provide diagnosis. All this, dehumanizes the profession, increases economic expenses, leads to mistakes which cause patients' death.
Philosophical aspects in medicine are approached, the responsibility of church and scholasticism in the stagnation of the clinical method, humanism and profession, the logical and dialectical processes of medical reasoning, as a rational use of technology, the unavoidable uncertainties of any science, the neo-mechanism of artificial intelligence in medicine, the excesses of "medicine based on evidence", the growing mercantilism of this profession, etc.
