Main author: Alexis Labrada Rosado.
Summary:

In our country, allergic diseases have a high prevalence index. Traditional allergenics, prepared in their own allergy places, with significant variations among the different obtained lots, have being used in clinical extractor management of these diseases. On the other hand, the scientific-technical development that has been reached at the present time, has allowed many foreign firms commercializing different standardized allergens with a consistent effectiveness; nevertheless, for their high prices, these have not been introduced to satisfy our national necessities.

The result from this work constitutes an important contribution to the development of allergy sudies in the country, and it represents a complete cycle research that includes research-development, industrial escalade, registration of the obtained products, and their introduction in clinical practice. By means of this research, allergenic extracts were obtained from three dust acari, very important in the country for their high incidence in allergic diseases and particularly in asthma. The extracts from D. siboney and Blomia tropicalis are registered for the first time in the world.

The obtained products have been standardized for their biological activity and main allergens, with an excellent stability, which implies the reproducibility of cutaneous tests and the perspectives of their application as immunotherapy, all this has been joined by obtaining a patent, the generation of two new monoclonals against acari allergens, the execution of controlled clinical trials and the diffusion of the main results in foreign and national magazines, as well as in different scientific events.
