Summary:

The authors specifically study the state of impurities and excitons that play an important role in heterostructures associated to the applications in different electronic and optoelectronic devices.

The main contributions are based on the use of the Spaces of Fractional dimension, (outlined for the first time in 1977), to propose a unique, systematic and analytic method that is applicable to a wide heterostructure spectrum in absence or presence of external electric and magnetic fields.

The basic idea of the contribution is based on the substitution of "impurity or exciton-heterostructure-field" three-dimensional space, by an effective isotropic space of D fractional dimension, where the problem is easily solved. It is also presented a procedure for the determination of D.

In the last 7 years the authors report 12 publications, all of them very prestigious, such as Physics of State Solid, published by Wiley-VCH Verlag, Physica B published by Elsevier, Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, Journal of Applied Physics, Physical Review B, by Physics American Society, etc.

The events where the authors have exposed their results have been mainly developed in Japan, United States, China and Poland.
