The present work addresses an issue of great importance and topicality in the field of modern vaccinology: de la vaccinología moderna: the seeking of new effective adyuvant methods for immunopotentiating poorly immunogenic antigens or estimulating or restoring the immune system of immunocompromized patients, as the cases of the ones suffering from cancer deseases, AIDS and some others with similar effects. The objective is to study immunopotentiating action mechanism of VSSP adyuvant (Very Small Size Protoliposomes). It is proved that VSSP is a dentritic cells stimulator having more potence than the known LPS bacterial polysaccharide.
It is for the first time reported the stimulating action of this Neisseria meninigitidis derivative in dentritic cells of murine origin. VSSP adyuvant capacity was proved through antitumor experiments with different models of tumor cellular lines, which is a new contribution to knowledge.
Results led to several clinic assays phase I and II of breast cancer and melanoma in Cuba and other countries. Results have been disseminated in several international events as well as through 3 journals of scientific impact. It also has intelectual property on a patent in Cuba and abroad.
