The work gathers in a book and a CD (for training Groups of Integrated Community Work from the Municipalities) the experience from 10 years of practice and research in many community projects, and which nowadays bases this kind of work carried out in 13 municipalities of Villa Clara and could become into a model for the rest of the country.
The authors have been able to base, starting from the classical Marxist work and ulterior contributions of Gramsci, Lukacs and others, what they call the paradigm of scientific work for autodevelopment, without ever stooping to the neoliberal approach established by the state-community approach, and with a correct critic to the positivist and logic-positivist approaches on that matter.
From these premises, it searches for the real approach between the State and civil society, identifying in each case the elements that are still present in vertical-centralist culture of our society.
The paradigm elaborated has as a nucleus the dialectical mediation category, and includes, as line of analysis, a novel interpretation of the processes which occur in the field of political institutions, everyday life, budgets of researchers and professionals of the community work, the mediation which results from the research methodology based on dialectics of action, participation and transformation. Besides, it includes the mediation analysis produced by the professional of community work and those who work in this field, with community itself and its praxis.
In its foundation, it integrates and systematizes a deep treatment of Cuban and international literature, and the experience of dozens of professionals and researchers joined to postgraduate and diploma courses, conferences, as well as to the "Master in Community Development" in Villa Clara, Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba provinces; that is why it is also the result of an active knowledge production process in the field of social sciences.
