Summary:

The authors present the results reached during 30 years of work, which consist on a wide and deep study of chemical synthesis of furanic polymers and their physicochemical characterization that includes kinetic studies of reaction mechanisms and structural study of synthesized polymers. These results are a certain contribution to the knowledge of furanic compounds, and one of the new results is the preparation of original polymers, since monomers not registered in literature were synthesized.

The originality and contribution of these works lies in the considerable difference between the furan molecule and its derivatives and polymers regarding benzene, in which are based most of the works published in the field of polymers. It is a very complete work published in the field of polymerization of furanic compounds.

These works have been published in 57 scientific articles, 29 of them in magazines of great circulation and international prestige such as: Journal of Polymer Science, Applied Polymer Science, Macromolecular Chemistry, Acta Polymerica, Polymer International, Tetrahedron Letters, and Polymer. As well as the presentation of dozens of diplomas, and 10 Master' and Doctorate's degrees.
