Summary:

Scientific impact : It has been created a prototype of atomization nozzle for heavy crude burners in hearths of the vapor generators of power stations, more efficient than imported nozzles. This new nozzle has been granted a patent in Cuba; it is processed its registration in Spain, and its extension to the UE and the USA. Also, the bank of tests created to optimize the geometry of atomizing nozzles has sensitive scientific value, patented, and proven in the Research Laboratory in Combustion Technologies, very prestigious Spanish center, in a combined project CITMA-CSIC. The theory that sustains the design of the new nozzle has been published in many magazines and prestigious events in Cuba and abroad.

Economic Impact: In the official tests carried out in José Martí Power Station, the new Cuban nozzle reduced the consumption of equivalent fuel in 9.88 g/(kW-h), that is to say, 2.58%, regarding the North American patented burner. It means a monthly saving of more than 466 t of petroleum only in that plant.

Social impact: It is not confirmed so far. References : This work satisfactorily fulfills all the established formal requirements for the presentation of the proposals to ACC annual prizes. The authors, their filiation and their contribution are clearly indicated. The result is succinctly described, highlighting their most significant values. Also, the most important articles and patents, as well as the results' references emitted by the Cuban National Electric Company, and the Reasearch Laboratory in Combustion Technologies, that belongs to the Higher Council of Scientific Research of Spain, are in the file of this work.

References: The most important articles and patents, as well as the results' references emitted by the Cuban National Electric Company, and the Reasearch Laboratory in Combustion Technologies, that belongs to the Higher Council of Scientific Research of Spain, are in the file of this work.

Conclusion: It is a meritorious scientific work, of short-term national economic importance, with international resonance. For this purpose, it is suggested for the Annual Prize of the Sciences Academy of Cuba.
