Se dedicó también a los estudios de Cibernética aplicada a la Medicina y gran parte de su esfuerzo lo consagró a la urgente tarea de reformar los hospitales universitarios y al propio Plan de estudios de la Facultad de Medicina.

Scientific impact: This work has important results of the theoretical-practical work of this deceased author’s, of many years in the field of antennas, gathered in his book Antennas: General theory. The book contains 18 contributions to the theory of antennas, fully recognized by his opponents and the examining board of second degree doctorate of the author, whose defense was carried out at the beginning of 2001 in the Cuban Military Technical Institute (ITM). Some of such contributions are the following: an original definition of antenna concept; the form of presentation of the Duality Principle; the general expressions of the fields produced by any antenna at any distance; the complete analysis of the problem of main polarization and crossed polarization; antenna's complete analysis in reception regime; the expressions to calculate the level of secondary lobes in systems with distribution of uniform width and cosine type; the general expressions to calculate the directional characteristics of antennas of plane aperture in any way; the approach and explanation of the system of Hallén equations for a system of asymmetric and different parallel dipoles, whose feeding centers can be displaced; and the exposition of a general method to solve the problems of antennas, among others. The book is used since its publication as an undergraduate and graduate text of Antennas subject in the centers of engineer teaching of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and as a work of main consultation for the researchers of the FAR who work in this technological discipline. A particularly valuable aspect for those who use it is that this book avoids the excessive mathematization of the typical complex problems of the theory of antennas, paying more attention to the physical root of these phenomena. In fact, this work belongs to the almost empty category of professional books of antennas in Spanish language.

Economic impact: It is not claimed.

Social impact: The introduction of this work has contributed in a sensitive way to improve the formation of specialists in radiotechnical engineering of the FAR, as text book and in its condition of reference work. Also, the contributions contained in the book have been used and are still being used in the solution of important practical problems of the FAR. All this represents a strengthening net in the defensive capacity of the country, in case of a potential armed confilct and in the context of the current confrontation to subversive transmissions.

References: In the file of this work there are copies of the references, emitted by the corresponding levels of the FAR, where it is stated its high scientific-technical level, and its practical value in teaching, research and practice of the technology of antennas.

Conclusion: To propose this work to the Prize of the Science Academy of Cuba, due to its scientific value and the high impact that has had and still has in the elevation of the defense level of the country.
