Trichomona vaginalis infects the flacky human urogenital tract epithelium and its pathogeny mechanism is not precisely known.

The undertaken study constitutes a novel contribution to the field of Molecular Epidemiology, in a such a frequent infection as the genital one caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. Parasite´s addhesion to the urogenital urogenital tract flacky cells is the first step of the infection, in which secretion-excretion 60Kda proteinase is implied. This was well proved through this work.

Another obtained result was proteinase purification, being identified three bands with molecular weight of 62.40 and 20Kda, as well as the obtention of monoclonal antbodies against proteinase.

It was proved that antibodies administrated 24 hours before a intraperitoneal via challenge with trichomonas vaginalis protect mice from infection.

The other novel result was the one obtained when protecting female mice from a vaginal challenge, by intranlsal immunization with the 62 Kda antigen combined with the choleric toxin El otro and Cpg. Just between the 5 and the 15% of them got infected while the 80-90% in control group.

The originality, novelty and creativity of this work is that it was able to proved that 62 Kda proteinase monoclonal antibody is effective against Trichomona vaginalis, as well as the protection provided to mice by its intranasal via administration with adjuvants from Trichomonas vaginalis intravaginal via challenge.

It is for the first time presented a possible vaccinal candidate against Trichomona vaginalis at murine level.

It has two international publications in leading journals.

It constitutes a Clinic 2003 of its leading author.

It was presented in the 16th Latin American Congress of Microbiology and Tropical Medicine, as well as in the International Congress of Chemstry and Chemical Engineering.
