This research, published as a book, allows assessing the impact of the development of tourist activity in Cuban economy and society, and analyzing to what extent the efforts carried out for the development of international tourism in Cuba have given the prospective results and which have been the difficulties found in this process. Also, different possible scenarios are presented on its future development, which is very useful for decision making in the country.

The research uses an abundant and updated statistical information that illustrates the tendencies and indicators studied and proposed. In the same way the numerous used biographical sources are managed, which bestows an appropriate scientific rigor. It contextualizes with the corresponding analyses: geographical environment's point of view (the Caribbean), and historical evolution.
